Is my bill amount uploaded anywhere?

No. The tip calculator runs entirely in your browser. The bill, tip, tax and split count you enter are not sent to a server, stored in an account or shared with anyone.

Is the tip calculator free?

Yes. It is free to use with no sign-up, no download and no limit on how many bills you calculate.

Does the tip apply before or after tax?

The tip is calculated from the bill amount you enter. For the usual pre-tax method, enter the pre-tax subtotal in the bill field and put the tax rate in the tax field. If you prefer tipping after tax, enter the taxed total as the bill and leave tax at zero.

Can it split the bill between people?

Yes. Enter the number of people sharing the bill and the calculator shows the per-person share. The split is even, so custom item-by-item splitting is outside this page.

What does round total up mean?

Round total up moves the final bill to the next whole unit, such as 49.86 to 50.00. The extra cents are counted as additional tip so the total stays consistent.

What does round each share up mean?

Round each share up makes every person pay a whole-unit amount. For example, a 108.92 total split by three becomes 37.00 per person, for a final collected total of 111.00.

Can I use different currencies?

Yes. The math is currency-neutral. Enter the amount in any currency and read the results in the same currency; the page formats numbers for your browser language without adding a symbol.
