01 / Overview

What is a binaural beats generator?

A binaural beats generator sends one sine tone to your left ear and a slightly different tone to your right. Your auditory system may perceive a gentle pulse equal to the frequency difference. Choose a carrier and beat, put on stereo headphones, and start at low volume.

How to use

  1. 01
    Put on stereo headphones

Keep your device volume low. Headphones preserve one frequency in each ear, which is required for the binaural effect.

  2. 02
    Choose a beat

Select a named range preset or enter an exact beat from 0.5 to 40 Hz.

  3. 03
    Adjust the carrier

Set the audible center pitch from 80 to 1,000 Hz and review the calculated left and right frequencies.

  4. 04
    Play or export

Press Play binaural beat, optionally choose a sleep timer, or download a 5, 15, or 30 second stereo WAV.

Who it's for

  • Listeners can compare delta, theta, alpha, beta, and gamma beat ranges without searching through prerecorded tracks.
  • Audio students can hear how changing the difference between two channel-isolated tones changes the perceived pulse.
  • Producers can export a short 48 kHz stereo WAV as a starting layer for a private audio project.
  • Researchers and educators can set exact carrier and beat values for simple listening demonstrations.

The generator uses two Web Audio oscillators and routes each one to its own stereo channel. It centers the pair around your chosen carrier, so a 200 Hz carrier with a 10 Hz beat plays 195 Hz on the left and 205 Hz on the right. Playback and stereo WAV creation happen locally after you press a control.

This is an audio experiment, not a treatment. Research into relaxation, sleep, attention, and brainwave entrainment has mixed results. Band names describe commonly used frequency ranges, not guaranteed effects. Use comfortable headphones at a low level and stop if the sound feels unpleasant.

FAQ

Is this binaural beats generator free?

Yes. You can use every frequency preset, enter custom carrier and beat values, set a timer, and save short stereo WAV files without an account or payment. There is no usage counter. The browser creates the audio locally when you press Play or Download WAV.

Does the generator upload or record my audio?

No. The generator does not request microphone access, upload a recording, or send your frequency settings away for processing. Its two tones and downloadable stereo WAV are created on your device. Normal page resources or analytics may still make network requests, so this claim applies to audio processing.

What limits does the binaural beat generator have?

The carrier range is 80 to 1,000 Hz and the beat range is 0.5 to 40 Hz. WAV exports are limited to 5, 15, or 30 seconds to keep creation quick and memory use modest. Live sessions can continue until you stop them, close the page, hide the tab, or reach the timer.

Do I need headphones for binaural beats?

Use stereo headphones for the intended binaural effect. Each ear must receive its own tone with minimal mixing. Speakers send both tones to both ears and create ordinary acoustic interference in the room, so they do not provide the same channel-isolated listening condition.

What carrier and beat frequencies should I choose?

A 200 Hz carrier and 10 Hz alpha-range difference are a comfortable starting experiment for many listeners. The carrier controls the audible pitch; the beat controls the frequency gap. Lower your volume before changing either value, and treat delta, theta, alpha, beta, and gamma labels as descriptive ranges rather than promised outcomes.

Can binaural beats improve sleep, focus, or anxiety?

Studies have reported varied results, and a generator cannot promise a medical, cognitive, or sleep benefit. Some people enjoy the sound or the listening routine, while others notice little. Do not replace professional advice or treatment with binaural audio, and stop listening if you feel discomfort.

How is the stereo WAV generated?

The browser calculates the left and right sine samples at 48 kHz, applies short fades to reduce clicks, interleaves both channels as 16-bit PCM, and wraps them in a WAV file. The file preserves channel separation, so listen in stereo headphones to evaluate the intended beat.
