PDF tools that keep files on your device

PDF tools help with the document around the content: combining attachments, separating chapters, rotating a scan or removing a blank page. Merge PDF joins files in the order you choose. Before choosing a tool, check whether the document contains selectable text or pictures of text. PDF to Text reads an existing text layer; it cannot recover words from an image-only scan. The image and OCR tools cover different parts of that workflow. Page rotation changes orientation, while cropping changes the visible page area. Neither should be treated as a way to securely remove confidential content.

Work from a copy when a document includes forms, signatures, annotations or security settings. Editing may change or invalidate those features. Password-protected documents may require unlocking in another application before a tool can open them. Large PDFs also need enough browser memory. After an export, open the new file and check the page count, reading order and any fields that matter before sharing it.
