What image formats are supported?
The tool accepts PNG, JPEG or JPG, and WebP images. It exports WebP, JPEG, and PNG when the browser supports that encoder. Animated images, HEIC, TIFF, SVG, and camera RAW files are not accepted in this version.
Can I compress an image without losing quality?
WebP and JPEG compression is lossy, so lower quality settings discard image detail even when the difference is hard to see. PNG output preserves the decoded pixels and transparency, but browser re-encoding is not a specialized lossless PNG optimizer and may not reduce file size.
Why did the compressed image become larger?
A file can grow when its original encoder was already efficient, when you choose a less suitable format, or when the quality setting is high. The tool reports increases instead of calling them savings. Try WebP, lower the quality, or keep the original file.
What happens to transparent pixels in JPEG?
JPEG has no transparency channel. When you export a transparent PNG or WebP as JPEG, this tool fills transparent areas with white before encoding. Choose WebP or PNG when the transparent background must remain transparent.
