kcal = MET x 3.5 x kg / 200 x minutes

kcal = 4.3 x 3.5 x 77 / 200 x 45 = 261

This is a MET-based estimate. Real calorie burn varies with fitness, terrain, technique and body composition.

How do you calculate calories burned by activity?

A calories burned by activity calculator estimates energy use from the activity's MET value, your body weight and the time spent moving. Choose an activity, enter your weight and minutes, and the tool applies the standard MET equation locally in your browser. Treat the result as a practical estimate, not a medical measurement.

How to use

  1. 1Choose an activity. Select a preset such as brisk walking, running, cycling or swimming. Use Custom MET if you already know the MET value for a specific activity.
  2. 2Enter weight and time. Type your body weight in pounds or kilograms, then enter the number of minutes spent doing the activity.
  3. 3Read the estimate. The calculator shows total calories, calories per minute, MET intensity and the substituted formula.

Who it's for

This tool uses common MET values for everyday activities such as walking, running, cycling, swimming, yoga, dancing, hiking and housework. It includes Metric (EU) and US unit options, updates instantly, and shows the formula so you can see exactly how the estimate was made. Nothing is uploaded or stored.

FAQ

Is the calories burned by activity calculator free?

Yes. The calculator is free, requires no sign-up, and runs in your browser. Your weight, duration and activity choices are not uploaded.

How accurate is a MET calorie estimate?

It is a useful estimate, not a lab measurement. MET values describe average energy cost for an activity, then the formula adjusts for body weight and time. Fitness level, terrain, pace, temperature and technique can move your real calorie burn above or below the estimate.

What is a MET value?

MET means metabolic equivalent of task. One MET is roughly the energy used while sitting quietly. An activity with 6 METs uses about six times that resting rate, which is why higher-MET activities produce larger calorie estimates for the same weight and duration.

Does the calculator count active calories or total calories?

The standard MET equation estimates total gross calories for the activity period, including resting energy. Fitness watches may show active calories after subtracting rest, so their number can be lower even when the activity and duration match.

Can I use metric or US units?

Yes. Choose Metric (EU) for kilograms or US for pounds. The calculator converts pounds to kilograms internally because the MET equation uses body mass in kg.

What if my exact activity is not listed?

Choose the closest preset or select Custom MET and enter a value from a trusted activity table. The estimate changes linearly: doubling the MET, weight or minutes roughly doubles the calories.
