The tool loads a WebAssembly build of FFmpeg only when you start an export. Its fps filter samples the source timeline at a constant rate, dropping frames when you reduce FPS and repeating frames when you increase it. The first audio track is re-encoded to AAC and kept on the original timeline, so changing frame rate does not make the video faster or slower.

Exports use H.264 video in an MP4 container for broad playback compatibility. Subtitles, extra audio tracks, chapters, attachments, and source metadata are not copied. Browser memory and processor speed make this best for short or moderate clips. The conservative file limit is 100 MB on mobile or lower-memory devices, 250 MB on a typical desktop, and 500 MB on high-memory desktops.

FAQ

Is my video uploaded when I change its FPS?

No. The selected file is read from a browser file object and processed by a WebAssembly video engine in this tab. The engine code downloads when first needed, but your source and converted video are not sent to that server or saved in a CanDoYa account.

Is this FPS changer free and watermark-free?

Yes. You can select, convert, preview, and download a video without an account, subscription, export credit, or watermark. The practical limits come from your device's available memory and processing speed rather than a server quota or paid plan.

What are the browser limits for changing video frame rate?

The tool uses a conservative limit of 100 MB on mobile and lower-memory devices, 250 MB on a typical desktop, and 500 MB on high-memory desktops. Long, 4K, high-frame-rate, damaged, or unusual professional media may take too long or require more memory than a browser tab can provide.

Can I convert 30 FPS video to 60 FPS?

Yes, but the export repeats frames to fill the 60 FPS timeline. It does not use optical flow or AI to create new in-between motion, so the result remains visually similar to the 30 FPS source. Use frame interpolation software if you need genuinely synthesized intermediate frames.

Does changing FPS change video speed or audio sync?

No. The tool samples the same source timeline at a different frame rate and keeps the audio on that timeline. The duration, apparent playback speed, and audio sync stay the same. Use a video speed changer instead when you want the clip itself to play faster or slower.

Can this FPS changer fix variable-frame-rate video?

It can produce a constant-frame-rate MP4 from many variable-frame-rate phone and screen recordings. That often improves compatibility with editors that expect evenly spaced frames. It cannot repair damaged timestamps, encrypted media, or a codec that the browser video engine cannot decode.

Which output frame rates are supported?

You can enter any value from 1 to 120 FPS. Presets cover 23.976, 24, 25, 29.97, 30, 50, 59.94, and 60 FPS. The fractional NTSC-derived choices use exact rational rates internally rather than rounded decimal timing.

Which video formats can I convert?

The tool accepts common containers such as MP4, WebM, MOV, MKV, AVI, MPEG, WMV, MTS, and related files, then exports MP4. A familiar extension can still contain an unsupported codec, so some camera, encrypted, or professional files may need desktop conversion software.
