What is an image color picker?

An image color picker lets you click a pixel in a photo, logo, or screenshot and read its color code. Add an image, inspect it with the magnified loupe, then copy HEX, RGB, HSL, alpha, or coordinates. Sampling runs locally in your browser, so the file is not uploaded.

The tool decodes your image with its saved orientation, draws a bounded preview, and maps every click back to the oriented source pixel. A separate 1 by 1 Canvas read preserves source-image coordinates even when the preview is scaled or zoomed. Results describe the browser-rendered color, normally in sRGB, rather than raw compressed bytes or a paint catalog match.

Each saved pixel stays in a short on-page list. Copy the list for a design note or download a CSV containing the coordinate, HEXA, RGBA, HSLA, and alpha values.

FAQ

Is my image uploaded?

No. The browser decodes the selected file and reads pixels with Canvas on your device. The image, its pixels, and your saved color list are not sent to a processing server by this tool.

Is the image color picker free?

Yes. You can upload images, sample as many pixels as you need, copy color values, and download the saved list without an account, payment, watermark, or usage credits.

What image formats and limits are supported?

The picker accepts PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF, AVIF, and BMP files up to 40 MB and 64 megapixels when the browser can decode that format. Animated images use the frame exposed by the browser decoder.

How do I get a HEX color from an image?

Add the image, move over the area you want, and use the loupe to target one pixel. Click or tap to save it, then use the Copy button beside HEX. Semi-transparent pixels also show an eight-digit HEXA value.

Can the picker read transparent pixels?

Yes. The checkerboard reveals transparency, and semi-transparent samples include HEXA, RGBA, HSLA, and an alpha percentage. Fully transparent Canvas pixels commonly read as transparent black, so the alpha value is more meaningful than the hidden RGB channels.

Why can the sampled color differ from what another app shows?

Browsers decode embedded color profiles and expose rendered Canvas pixels, usually in sRGB. Other apps may report raw profile values, use a wider-gamut working space, or round channels differently. JPEG compression also blends colors around edges.

Does zoom change the sampled color?

No. Zoom only enlarges the preview. Pointer positions are mapped back to the oriented source-image dimensions, and the picker reads one source pixel. The x and y values therefore stay in source-pixel coordinates.
