2048 is a single-player number puzzle played on a 4 x 4 grid. Slide every tile in one direction, combine equal numbers, and keep building until you create the 2048 tile. This browser version supports keyboard, touch, and button controls, saves your game locally, and lets you continue beyond 2048.
Press an arrow key or WASD, swipe across the board, or use a direction button. All tiles slide as far as they can in that direction.
When two equal tiles meet, they combine into one tile with double the value. A tile can merge only once in a single move.
Keep your largest tile near a corner and arrange the other values around it. A new 2 or 4 appears after each valid move.
Making a 2048 tile wins the classic goal. Choose Keep going to chase 4096 and a higher score, or start a new game.
The game runs entirely in your browser with no account or download. Your current board and best score stay in local browser storage, so you can close the tab and return later. No game data is uploaded.
Scoring follows the classic rule: every merge adds the value of the tile it creates. Combining two 64 tiles adds 128 points, while slides without a merge add nothing.

No game state is uploaded. Your board, current score, and best score are written only to local storage in your browser so the game can resume later. Clearing this site's browser data removes that saved progress.
Use the arrow keys or WASD on a keyboard. On a touch screen, swipe up, right, down, or left directly across the board. You can also use the four visible direction buttons with a mouse, keyboard, switch control, or other assistive input.
All tiles slide toward the chosen edge. Adjacent tiles with the same number merge into one tile worth their sum, and each tile may merge only once per move. After any move that changes the board, a new 2 appears 90 percent of the time and a 4 appears 10 percent of the time.
Each merge adds the value of the new tile to your score. Merging two 8 tiles creates 16 and adds 16 points. Simply sliding tiles does not add points. Your best score is the highest total reached on this browser.
Reaching the 2048 tile displays a win message, but you can choose Keep going and continue combining tiles into 4096 or beyond. The game ends only when the grid is full and no equal tiles touch horizontally or vertically.
Yes. Undo restores the board and score from immediately before your latest valid move. It is a single-step practice aid, so making another move after an undo replaces that saved position. Your best score remains intact.
