Is my microphone recording uploaded?
No. The browser captures audio into memory and creates a local playback address in this tab. This tool does not send your microphone stream or finished recording to a processing server. Download the file before closing or reloading the page because the in-memory copy will disappear.
Is the online audio recorder free?
Yes. You can record, pause, replay, and download without an account, extension, watermark, or payment. There is no artificial duration cap. The practical limit depends on your browser memory, available device storage, recording bitrate, and how long you keep the page open.
How long can I record audio online?
The tool does not set a fixed timer limit, but the browser keeps recording chunks in memory until you stop. Very long sessions can exhaust memory or be interrupted by sleep and background-tab policies. For important work, make shorter takes and download each one promptly.
What format will the audio recording use?
The format depends on MediaRecorder support in your browser. Chrome, Edge, and Firefox commonly create WebM with Opus audio, while Safari may create MP4. Some browsers can produce Ogg. The tool shows the actual container and gives the downloaded file the matching extension.
What does Speech enhancement change?
When enabled, the microphone request asks the browser for echo cancellation, noise suppression, automatic gain control, and a mono channel. Those settings often improve spoken notes. Turn enhancement off for instruments, singing, or ambient sound when automatic processing could alter dynamics or tone.
Why is my microphone blocked or unavailable?
Microphone access requires HTTPS, an available input, and your permission. Check the microphone control in the browser address bar, make sure the correct device is connected, and close calling or recording apps that may be using it. Then return to the page and try again.
Does the audio recorder work on phones?
It can work in current mobile browsers that support getUserMedia and MediaRecorder. Keep the page active while recording and prevent the phone from sleeping.
