How much should I save each month to reach my goal?

A savings goal calculator works backward from your target, current balance, deadline and expected annual return to find the monthly deposit you need. It also converts that amount into weekly and daily equivalents, then separates your future deposits from estimated interest so you can build a practical savings plan.

How to use

  1. 1Enter the goal and what you have saved. Set your target amount, current balance and preferred currency. Enter zero if you are starting from scratch.
  2. 2Choose a deadline and expected APY. Add whole years plus any extra months. Use the account's annual percentage yield, or zero for a no-interest plan.
  3. 3Use the monthly savings target. The result updates instantly with monthly, weekly and daily equivalents. Adjust the deadline or rate to compare realistic plans, then copy the summary.

Who it's for

The calculation runs entirely in your browser. Your goal and account figures are not uploaded or stored. Choose your currency for clearer formatting, use an APY from your savings account if you have one, and set the rate to zero for a plan based only on deposits.

FAQ

Is this savings goal calculator free?

Yes. The calculator is free to use with no account, sign-up or usage limit. It runs with plain JavaScript in your browser, and you can change the goal, deadline, starting amount, currency and expected return as often as you need.

Are my savings figures uploaded or stored?

No. Every calculation happens locally in your browser. Your savings goal, current balance and rate are not sent to a server or saved by this tool. Once the page has loaded, the calculator can also keep working without a network connection.

How does the savings goal calculator work?

It grows your current balance at the APY you enter, then solves the future-value formula for equal end-of-month deposits over your chosen number of months. At a zero rate, the calculation is simply the remaining amount divided by the months left.

What interest rate should I enter?

Use the current APY shown for your savings account, certificate or other account. APY already reflects compounding over one year. Because rates can change, treat the result as a planning estimate and test a lower rate if you want a more cautious target.

Can I calculate a savings goal with no interest?

Yes. Enter 0 for the annual return. The calculator will subtract any amount already saved from the goal, divide the remainder across your deadline and show the exact monthly pace, plus comparable weekly and daily amounts.

Why is the required monthly amount rounded up?

A rounded-down payment can leave the final balance slightly short. This calculator rounds the required monthly deposit upward to the selected currency's smallest unit, then shows the resulting projected balance. The small overage ensures the displayed plan reaches the target under the assumptions entered.

What if I have already saved enough?

If your current savings, including the estimated growth through the deadline, can meet the goal without more deposits, the required monthly amount becomes zero. The result still shows the projected balance and estimated interest so you can check the assumption.
