What is a Kanban board?

A Kanban board is a visual task organizer that moves work through clear stages such as Backlog, In progress, and Done. Add a card for each task, then move it as the work advances. This free board saves automatically in your browser, with no account or upload.

Who it's for

  • Freelancers tracking small client deliverables without setting up a full project workspace.
  • Students moving research, drafting, revision, and submitted work through a visible flow.
  • Developers and designers keeping a private launch checklist beside the work in progress.
  • Households organizing repairs, errands, or event tasks on one simple device-local board.

This board is made for quick personal planning. Add, edit, delete, reorder, or drag cards between three fixed columns. You can also move every card with visible buttons, which keeps the workflow usable on touchscreens and with a keyboard.

Your board is stored in this browser's localStorage. It returns after a normal reload on this device, but it does not sync to another browser and can be erased when you clear site data. Copy the board as Markdown whenever you want a portable text backup.

FAQ

Is my Kanban board uploaded anywhere?

No. Cards, descriptions, order, and the board title are processed and saved in your browser's localStorage. CanDoYa does not receive the board data. The tradeoff is that the board stays on this browser and device unless you copy it into another app yourself.

Is this Kanban board free?

Yes. The board is free to use with no account, subscription, card limit, or download. Open the page and begin adding tasks. It is designed as a focused personal board, not as a cloud collaboration service with team accounts and shared updates.

How many cards can I add?

The tool does not impose a card limit. Practical capacity depends on your browser's localStorage allowance and your device, though ordinary text-only personal boards use very little space. Short card titles and focused descriptions also make a Kanban board easier to scan.

Does the board save after I close the tab?

Yes, in a normal browser session. Each edit saves automatically to localStorage, so the board returns when you reopen the page on the same browser and device. Clearing this site's stored data, switching browsers, or using private browsing can remove or prevent that saved copy.

Can I use the Kanban board without drag and drop?

Yes. Every card includes Move left and Move right buttons, so you can update status with touch, mouse, or keyboard. Drag and drop is an extra desktop shortcut, not the only way to use the workflow.

Can I share the board with a team?

Not as a live collaborative board. This version is stored only in your browser and does not create a shared link. Copy the board as Markdown to send a snapshot, or use a collaborative project service when several people need real-time editing.

What is the difference between Kanban and a to-do list?

A to-do list mainly records tasks. A Kanban board also shows workflow state, so you can see what has not started, what is actively being worked on, and what is finished. That structure makes blocked work and an overloaded In progress stage easier to notice.
