Are my videos uploaded to make the picture-in-picture effect?

No. The browser opens both videos as local file objects and sends them to a WebAssembly video engine running in the current tab. The engine files download on first use, but your source clips and finished MP4 are not uploaded to that server.

Is this picture-in-picture video editor free?

Yes. You can add two local videos, preview the placement, adjust size, margin, timing, and quality, then export and download an MP4 without an account, subscription, or watermark. Practical limits depend on your device memory and the length and resolution of the source files.

How large can the input videos be?

The editor uses a conservative per-file limit based on whether your device appears mobile or low-memory. Desktop browsers normally allow larger files than phones. Two long high-resolution videos can still require several times their compressed file size while decoding, so shorter clips are safer.

Which video's audio is used in the finished MP4?

The finished video keeps the optional audio track from the base video. The overlay video's audio is omitted to avoid two unsynchronized soundtracks playing together. If you need the second clip's sound, mix the audio separately before using it as the base track.

What happens if the overlay video is shorter than the base video?

The overlay starts at the timestamp you choose and disappears after its own final frame. The base video continues normally until it ends. Starting the inset later can place a short speaker response or reaction exactly where it belongs without trimming the main footage.

Can I overlay an image or logo instead of a video?

Why can picture-in-picture export take time?

The browser must decode two video streams, resize every overlay frame, composite it onto the base, and encode a new H.264 file. High-resolution or long clips increase both processing time and memory use. The Compact quality setting and shorter source clips reduce the workload.
