How can I add a watermark to a PDF?

Add your PDF, choose a text label or PNG/JPEG logo, then adjust its position, size, angle, opacity, and target pages. A live page preview shows the placement before you create a downloadable copy. The PDF and watermark stay in your browser instead of being uploaded to a processing server.

How to use

Are my PDF and watermark uploaded to a server?

No. Your PDF, text, and image watermark are read and combined in your browser. CanDoYa does not receive the document. The page loads PDF libraries as static assets, but processing does not send your files to a conversion service. Clear the tool or close the tab to release its local preview and download data.

Is it free to add a watermark to a PDF?

Yes. You can create and download a watermarked PDF without payment, an account, or a task quota. The tool handles one document at a time and does not add a CanDoYa mark. Its fixed safety limits are 100 MB, 1,000 PDF pages, and 20 MB for an image watermark.

What PDF and image limits apply?

A PDF can be up to 100 MB and 1,000 pages. PNG and JPEG watermark images can be up to 20 MB. Browser memory is the practical limit because editing may hold the source, preview, image, and result at once. Large documents are more reliable on a laptop than on a memory-constrained phone.

Can I watermark only certain PDF pages?

Yes. Choose all pages, odd pages, even pages, or custom pages. Custom selection accepts individual numbers and ascending ranges separated by commas, such as 1, 3-5, 8. The page preview states whether the current page is included, so you can check the selection before processing.

Can I use a logo or transparent image as the watermark?

Yes. Choose a PNG or JPEG file in Image mode. PNG is recommended for logos with transparent backgrounds because its alpha channel is preserved. JPEG works for rectangular artwork or photographs but cannot contain transparency. The size, opacity, position, and rotation controls apply to either format.

Can a text watermark contain accented or non-Latin characters?

Usually, yes. The tool draws text with fonts available in your browser and embeds that rendered mark as a transparent image, avoiding the limited character set of PDF standard fonts. Glyph coverage still depends on fonts installed or loaded on your device, so inspect the live preview before downloading.

Will watermarking reduce the quality of the original PDF?

The tool adds an image layer to selected pages and does not intentionally rasterize or recompress the existing page. Original text, vectors, and images remain in their PDF form. The output size can change because the file is saved again, and the watermark itself is embedded once for reuse across pages.

Will an existing digital signature remain valid?

Do not assume it will. Adding a watermark changes the PDF bytes, which normally invalidates a cryptographic signature covering the original file. Work from an unsigned copy or preserve the signed original. This tool does not claim to retain certification, permission restrictions, or archival conformance after editing.
